How to make Presentation Slides more effective?

Use of Visuals such as images, videos, tables, graphs etc. helps to understand the topic or data more quickly. Presenters make use of presentation slides that includes all of the above mentioned visuals and some text to make a topic clear to the audience.

Presentation slides should be made attractive to the audience but the use of colours and fonts should be limited to only those which makes text easy to read. The focus should be on visuals and text needs to be reduced as much as possible. (Dave Paradi, Think outside the slide)

Presentation slides should include only necessary information and not loaded with text because it makes it difficult to identify the most important figures from a large amount of data. Moreover, slides filled with data makes them more boring and disconnect audience from the main idea.

Slides must be kept smaller in length so that it allows more time for discussion and does not demotivate audience to sit for a longer time.

It is more effective and engaging when a presentation starts with the main idea and follows up with explanation. It is even more logical this way instead of a story that explains everything first and audience have to figure out what the main idea is throughout the story.

The key point that needs to be kept in mind while presenting is that the whole presentation needs to revolve around what the audience needs and wants instead of what you can present to them.
