How to keep Audience awake during the Presentation?

Mostly during the presentations one-third of the audience do not pay attention. Either they are so tired that they start falling asleep or they are engaged in thinking of something else related to their personal life. Every presenter wants his audience to be engaged because part of their job is to make viewers pay attention and consider what is being said. But for that firstly, presenter needs to be too excited about the topic he is presenting because that will fill him up with energy which will ultimately be transferred to the audience.

Here are some of the ways which will help make audience awake:
  • Always start the presentation by mentioning about what you will be talking about, how it can benefit the listeners and for how long the presentation would be because this is the first question in the mind of every listener.
  • Explain the presentation in a flow, start with the very basic and follow along. Give some time to the audience to grasp one topic and make sure that they don't have any doubt about it.
  • Never talk non-stop, always pause periodically. This not only give chance to digest information but also allows the listeners to think out of box and ask questions.
  • To avoid boringness, casually add some emotions or humour to your talk. It can be related to the topic and not to the business but to the personal life.                                                                                                             (Wilder Presentations, Aug.12, 2016)
  • Stories can be put to use to explain a complicated situation because human beings are programmed to respond quickly to stories.
Try the above steps and see if it works for you. Hopefully, every listener like me would wake up from sleep if these steps are followed.
