Build a Relationship with Audience

I talked earlier about first impression through Professional look. If it goes out well, it would be easy to follow the second step, that is to build a relationship with audience. It is easy to withhold the audience till the end of the presentation and make your view point clear if their is a connection among audience and the presenter. Because the true meaning of giving a presentation is to engage with people and clear or inform about a specific topic but not providing tons of information which is not even useful to the listeners.

In spite of flooding audience with tons of information and explaining each data present in the power point, the presenter should provide only that information which is necessary to clear the viewpoint because the viewers can see the data in detail when a soft copy of the presentation is provided to them when it is over.

The key point in building relationship is friendly behaviour. Presenter should present his presentation in a friendly, happy and overwhelming manner. The Presentation environment needs to be flexible where audience can freely ask questions about the topic if they are in any doubt without hesitating. Benefits that the information provided has to the viewers also needs to be informed to them.

Presentations are always assumed as a one-way communication but it should be a two-way process where questions and feedback should flow back to the presenter which is the ultimate reward for him.

Making use of body languages such as hand movements, facial expressions and eye contact is most important when building a relationship.

Just try this small game to build a relationship with the person you want to explain something that you cannot directly say. Tell that person about yourself and let that person tell you about himself/herself and ask questions to each other whatever arise in your mind, it will surely involve you in more deeper conversation and you can achieve your goal. It's fun take some time to practice it and see if it works.
